Strike A Match - September, 2018

Paul the apostle wrote to his young friend Timothy:

"Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:6-7).

You have been chosen by God to see people place their faith in Jesus and enter into His Kingdom and eternal life.

Stir up the gift that is within you. Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to stir up a passion within you to see others come to know Jesus. No fear can stop you when you're empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Later in that same letter, Paul said:

"But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry" (2 Timothy 4:5).

You may not feel like a gifted preacher or evangelist. But you don't need to be. Just do the work of an evangelist. Your qualification comes from being a follower of Jesus.

Here are some practical things you can do:
- Offer to pray for people
- Share your testimony - how Jesus changed has your life
- Give them a 2 Ways To Live brochure
- Invite them to church
- Ask if they would like to become a follower of Jesus

As you step out and have a go, the Holy Spirit will empower you. You'll strike a match that sees many people start to burn with passion for Jesus.
